Fake celeb LinkedIn profiles lead to malware

A security researcher has discovered fake profiles for celebrities on LinkedIn that have links to malicious code, according to a blog posting on Trend Micro’s site.

Graham Cluley of Sophos also found many other fake celeb profiles and says that as recently as Thursday, the Troj/Decdec-A malicious JavaScript code was being found on them.

Craigslist bests MySpace as top search term

Craigslist spokeswoman Susan MacTavish Best said the privately held company, headquartered in San Francisco, has seen a sharp uptick in business.

The research group suggested more consumers are logging on at Craigslist, the Web’s largest classifieds publication, as the ailing economy prods them to look for bargains.

On a recent trip to Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, Calif., I got a quick peek at one of the test rooms Google uses to track user interactions with its products. Gmail’s product manager Todd Jackson told me it was just one of the many other user testing facilities the company had, and that collectively the testing had given the team important feedback of how people were using Gmail. Enough to change where entire features like user chat took up residence on a user’s screen.
